When a storm is coming, all other birds seek shelter. The eagle alone avoids the storm by flying above it. So, in the storms of life may your heart be like an eagle’s and soar above.” – Author Unknown

Teach Your Child to Read at Home!

Enjoy the benefits of teaching your child to read at home.

I was a special education teacher before I became disabled. One year I taught behavior disordered tenth graders who had suffered traumatic brain injury.  Their behavior caused problems for every teacher in every class as well as for their families.  They refused to do classwork or homework. Many had just gotten out of hospital rehabilitation where they had learned to dress themselves and eat again.

They caused problems for everyone for a simple reason. They could not read.  This caused them much frustration, and their frustration caused them to misbehave.

Using a technique I had discovered in a summer training session for teachers, I taught my students to read quickly and easily. As they learned to read, they started doing their class work and stopped misbehaving.  They became successful.

Why teach your child to read at home?

You can teach your child to read at home even when he is a toddler. This gives your child many life-long gifts.

  • Increased self-confidence.
  • More independence than his peers.
  • Higher maturity level than his peers.
  • More curiosity to learn.
  • Excelling at problem-solving.
  • More creativity and imagination.

All of these gifts lead to success later in life.

Reading is the key to success in school, and in life.  It boosts a child’s self-esteem and self-confidence.

Reading gives your child a love of learning and leads to higher grades in each subject.
